Waybuloo

In 2009, RDF approached Preloaded to build a site for the BBC to support their new children's TV show: Waybuloo. Right from the beginning of the project, it was apparent that we'd need to use a lot of pre-rendered content to live up to the high production values of the show. Careful thought also had to be given to the needs of our very young target audience (2-4 year olds). We set ourselves the modest target of creating a site which felt like an interactive episode of the TV show in terms of style, tone and audience engagement.

I was a senior member of the project team, responsible for shaping our response to the brief, working through our early concepts and refinements and managing parts of our relationships with external suppliers.

As technical lead I was responsible for building a workflow and tools that would enable us to work with a large number of assets from external providers and stitch these assets together into a coherent world. I also did most of the development work for the site, putting together a solid, reusable framework that would enable us to add extra scenes and pieces of interactivity in a clean, modular way and blend artwork together seamlessly.
