MTV Me
In 2007, Preloaded were approached by MTV Me to create a game to support their Staying Alive campaign. The game was to encourage teenagers to think about issues surrounding safe sex, bullying and drugs & alcohol abuse in a fun, narrative-led, never preachy or overly didactic way.
We responded by creating a point & click adventure game in the classic LucasArts / Monkey Island style. The player, after customising their avatar to their liking, has to find their way to a blind date at a party, navigating their way through a number of story puzzles. By weaving Staying Alive's key messages through the game's narrative, we presented the issues as an organic part of the gameplay, rather than beating the player around the head with worthy dogma.
I was the lead developer on the project and contributed heavily to game design and creative direction.
