Launchball
In 2007, the Science Museum asked Preloaded to build an online game to support the relaunch of their Launchpad gallery.
The brief was to create a game that would, like the gallery, teach the basics of physics to children aged 8-14 in a fun and tactile way. We responded with a thoroughly constructivist game that encouraged experimentation with a set of building blocks, all of which had unique physical properties.
The game was a runaway success. As of April 2008 it had attracted over 10 million hits on the Science Museum's website, and won a clutch of awards including Best of Show and Best Game at SXSWi 2008, Technical Excellence at FITC 2008 and Innovation at Museums and the Web 2008.
I was the sole developer on the project, from the early prototyping stages through to final delivery for both the web and a kiosk in the Launchpad gallery at the Science Museum. I was also heavily involved in the game design and contributed to the project's creative direction.
